Betting Systems in Roulette
Betting systems are planned betting methods. The purpose of a betting system is to develop a betting strategy that results in winnings for the player.  Betting systems can be flat betting systems, where the player bets the same amount no matter if he wins or loses.

There are also progression betting systems where the amount of the bet changes in response to a win.  Progression systems can be positive or negative.  In a positive progression system, the strategy is to increase the amount of a bet after a win. In a negative progression system, the strategy is to increase the amount of the bet after a loss.  In each situation, the bet amount is dependent on some action and betting is according to a preplanned schedule depending on wins and losses. Some betting systems are based on tracking a running total of bets and basing each bet on preceding bets, as the Fibonacci system is. There are almost as many roulette betting systems as there are roulette websites!

These systems are neither helpful nor harmful.  None of them can lower the house advantage in roulette which is the same for all bets except the Five bet in American roulette. This means that there is no betting system that increases the players’ chances of winning. Players are usually no worse off when they play by using a betting system than they are when they place their bets without a system. Trying to develop a system that beats the wheel is one of the attractions of roulette.
